Hey, i have Compaq Evo N400c laptop (not the most modern pice of technology i know but it does for me) which i use mainly for web browsing and downloading music. Recently i have suddenly started getting a warnin message saying "low disk space". No matter how much i delete, it reappears next time i log on. i havent put any extra programmes on or anything and have deleted a few of my favorite ones to try and cure the problem but it hasnt helped. Is this a virus that eats up my memory somehow? I done a scan through a site and it said i had a virus and was to delete the programme causing it which it said was winupdates.exe? That cannot be found on my computer! Can anyone help me PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!

Try deleting all your temporary files and cookies, see if that helps. Make sure though that you actually delete them and don't just send them to the recycle bin.

Go over to TrendMicro and follow the links for the free online virus scan. After that, regardless of if it finds something or not, I'd get ahold of [google]Spybot Search & Destroy[/google] and scan for spyware as well.

I delete the temporary and unnessesary files every time i log on but the warning still appears saying i have 0 free space. It says i can free some mor espace by deleting programmes so i have, even ones that i had before the problem. It freed space until next time i restarted. I was hoping there was a way of solving it at no cost? I cant even play my music cos thit needs atleast 10kb of free space. Also, there are some programmes i cannot delete cos it says it needs more memory??????

well first of all are you running XP?
(assuming your running XP) try going into disk cleanup and click on advanced and then then delete all but recent system restore points!
and then go into WINDOWS\prefetch and delete everything in there and then do a defrag if itll let you and then restart!
BTW how much free disk space is there?
