Help with hard drive comparison

I have been looking for a new hard drive and I came upon a site that was listing some deals (but you have to purchase elsewhere) on them Link Removed . Now listed below are the two deals that they have listed.

Seagate 160GB SATA Hard Drive

and the

Maxtor 120GB Hard Drive

What I need to know is which of the two is better? Is there a standard in RPM's of harddrives, will these run at the same RPM? Any other information on the two hard drives. I have no experience with them and could really use some help. I typically by a WD HDD and was told that these are much lower in price. Does this mean the quality is lower as well?

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Definately go with the Seagate. Seagate drives of that type are just as good as WD drives (excluding Raptors). They are also quieter and generally more reliable than Maxtor.

Its also a SATA drive so that tranfer rates will be higher and thinner cables give more airflow in the case.
 
yeah i have the 120GB seagate barracuda drive, its been awesome, quiet, runs brilliantly, never had any problems and all i've heard are bad things about maxtor...GO SEAGATE!
 
I appreciate the help, it appears then Seagate is a very good brand. What do you consider to be the best brands when it comes to hard drives?
 
Both are very good, the WD Raptors are very expensive and high performance but capacities aren't very high.

Seagate Barracudas are their flagship line and the best ones for the money, WD have their own range aswell.
