How the global climat changes hit me at last

Just dumping some thoughts...

Those warm winters (hardly even winters, but anyway) the past few years were not troubling me, also the storms, earthquakes and floods didn't cause much of a headace for me cause that's quite far away from this part of the world. But now, due to those same warm winters, bugs, which usually are in minor numbers, did not die out and are over-populating the countryside. These are natural to the Latvian environment, but I've never heard of them. There are two types - a black worm-like thing that's eating up tree leaves and red-black bugs with hard shells sitting on trees - thousands of them. And they're quite obvious to see. Killing the trees. They are in a certain area of Latvia, but still ... I feel like in a tropical country or something with these bugs and stuff.... crazy. Plus, some recent news (well, for me anyways :P) state that the human-done harm and contribute to the global warming is minimal. In fact, Earth is just going through a phase - up and down - now it's going down. It's a planetary thing that has to happen since the Earth is changing all the time and that's natural. The form we know it and love it is not the final form, it's just a stage in the future evolvement. Of course, we have to stop pollution and stuff, but we have to prepare for some serious change because we can't do anything about it. Yeah, so the recent events and this helplessnes makes me kinda creeped-out....

We certainly want to do better at not polluting, as we are caring for the planet. At the same time, there are things that are out of our control, and something we shouldn't sweat, especially when we're basing thousands if not millions and billions of years on less than 200 years of climate records.

Hello everyone ain't been on the forums in ages i missed all you people, been on holiday (Sweden + Netherlands) and plus i had exams before anyways nice to be back.

Now lets get to the subject about global warming, well if you look at the history of earth you will find that global warming and cooling is a natural process and with out these phases in earths history evolution would have been stuck and life on earth today would be a lump of gelatinous substance made from bacteria called stromatolites. What happened to them was catastrophic, most of them died due to global change (3.5billion years ago) and this then was the catalyst to drive evolution into adapting into no ways for life to exist. There were similar changes and mass extinctions the closest one to man was the ice age which killed off many species. So these changes in earths climate is very important and is the foundation of life on earth.

But and there's a big BUT and that is man has sort of changed the rules a bit. Instead of these processes happening over thousands if not hundreds thousands of years man has increased the speed of global warming in a space of tens of years. This is what scientist are worried about because climate change in normal circumstances is nothing new but man has really changed the rules and this time temperatures are rising so fast that a lot of animals can't adapt quick enough and either die or you end up with an increase of certain animals which then tips the balance of the ecosystem and which intern leads to the complete collapse of it.

The most important species of animals on earth are the insects, all ecosystems rely on them they are the bases for all life. Without them crops wont yield food for man. So the big worry is if insects like bees die out and signs of this is already happening then man will have a big trouble when it comes to pollination.

There are around 4 million cataloged species of animals, plants and fungi known to man and estimates say that there might be 2 million undiscovered species out there in rain forest and the sea.

So for selfish reasons do we wont to hand down to our next generation a poorer world with less food and less biodiversity????

In my opinion i certainly do not and the time to act is now, All mankind must act.

There is one point i would really like to make and that is the media is focusing on one greenhouse which is a taboo to mention, it is carbon dioxide but the thing is its not the strongest or most dangerous greenhouse gas. Sulfur dioxide is the strongest greenhouse gas and yet the industry still pumps loads of it in the air and you don't hear anything about it in the news only carbon dioxide and how bad it is.
