hi guyz. im wondering because yesterday my v card got busted (i think) because every time i access a game my pc shuts off or sometimes the monitor only shuts off and i can hear some noises from the game... i searched and searched in the internet how to fix this problem but many came up with replacing your v card so i did,but in fact my new v card "radeon 9550" works fine but after 2 hours the monitor again shuts off unexpected the symptoms again showed up... until i installed a speed fan and discovered my pc is heating up to temp:60C even if there is no active application, and in fact i have 2 fans blowing towards the cpu and i removed the cpu skin..but the problem persists..when i played "warrock" with my new v card it turned out well but after a few minutes the monitor again shuts off and i heard sounds of that game i pressed ctrl+alt+del luckily the monitor again starts back up because warrock has been ended using task manager the same thing happens with my old v card.. after a few minutes i executed again warrock and opened the speed fan(application)it went temp:70C after that it gone busted and i tried to view the task manager under the performance tab i saw 100% Cpu usage.. guyz i was wondering what made the heat so intense even if i had only a single application running and last week even i accessed the internet chatting with yahoo and executed warrock at the same time it turned out well and no signs of computer failure and back then it is my old v card.. my processor is pentium 4 3.00ghz v card old: radeon 9200SE 128mb v card new: radeon 9550 256mb Ram: 768mb my v slot is AGP plz help me guyz there's an upcoming tournament here on our country i want to train ..
Clearly your processor is running too hot. Idle temps of 70 C are not good at all. Putting stress on your CPU by running computer games will only increase the CPU temperature. Some motherboards and processors will detect when they are running running too hot and shut themselves off. The motherboard can notify you of this by making beeping or other sounds. I think the problem you face is not a lack of fans or bad airflow, but rather a lack of thermal grease between the processor and the heatsink. I suggest you buy some Artic Silver 5 and apply it.
but i have a have house fan blowing towards the cpu and a small fan with it,and i played warrock even if there is no other running apps but still the heat is so intense..so about the artic silver where do i spread it, im a noob when it comes to hardware .. so my old v card is not the problem??its the lack of thermal grease in the processor and heatsink.
megamaced can you put a screenshot regarding the heatsink and processor.? because i dont know where to spread it...
you put a paper thin layer of you chosen thermal compound / grease on the CPU fan, apply it to the location between the CPU heatsink & fan and the CPU, only apply a paper thin layer otherwise the thermal compound will act as a insulator, which kind of defeats the object
It won't matter how many fans you use if the processor is not making proper contact with the heatsink. The thermal grease will fill in the microscopic gaps between the processor and heatsink. Check out Artic Silver's website as they have clear instructions on there.
thanks for your advice dude.. but i used silicone based component... but it works fine for me ,now the temp is lower than before from 55C to 37C..
