I need windows xp pro X64 bit help

I recently built a 64 Bit PC and installed win XP Pro X64 on it. I am having trouble with drivers and programs. Vongo and even adobe flash player doesnt support 64 bit. I was wondering if I upgraded to Vista would this solve my problem.
System: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.01 GHz, 2.0 GB RAM
Windows XP Pro X64 Edition SP 2.
 
'upgrading' to vista is going to give you more problems... unfortunately i have never had a good experience with a 64bit version of windows, ever.

I would suggest you stick with the 32bit versions

Personally I'm running the 64-bit version of Vista, and I don't have any problems with it. Most 32-bit programs run on it without any trouble. But 64-bit operating systems need 64-bit drivers. And there are much more 32-bit than 64-bit drivers.

However I'd only recommend using a 64-bit OS when you got 4 GB or more RAM installed, because 32-bit operating systems are limited to 3.5-4 GB of RAM.
 
Thanks for the tips, but am I correct that there is a 32-bit Vista and also a
64 Bit vista? I would drop to a 32 Bit windows XP, but that would involve buying a new program, (if you can still get XP). I can upgrade with no problem, and I will have to check the prices on windows XP verses Vista Upgrade, but can you install a 32 bit operating system with a 64 bit processor?
 
yes you can install a 32bit OS on a 64bit CPU :)

Before you buy another copy of windows, why don't you give Ubuntu a go?

I don't own or use a single copy of windows anymore as i gave away my windows install disks.

The only downside of using Ubuntu instead of windows is that alot of software is written for windows (ie Microsoft Office and most Computer Games) but there is a free alternative to just about everything (OpenOffice is just as good/better than Microsoft Office) but you can also try to get windows software running in Ubuntu using a program called wine (I was able to install and play Half Life 2 using it).

I can't even start to count the advantages, i suppose the biggest advantages would be being able to trust my operating system (do you trust Micro$oft?), Not having to pay for it (although you can donate some money, but this is completely optional and you're never asked to) and not having to use Anti-Virus software (There are no viruses, i can explain why if you want to know).

Hardwareforums has quite a few Linux users, so if you ever get stuck you can ask for help in THIS forum.

Thanks for the help. I think I will try to get a copy of windows XP 32 bit and give that a try. I don't know if I am ready to make the jump to Vista yet.
I had accually given some thought to the alternative OS's such as linux, but wasn't sure if the gaming software for windows would be compatable. My son and I are big World of Warcraft fans as well as other games.
