I'm back, and with a PSU question.

Ok well yea, its been a while since I've posted but I am looking at upgrading my PSU because I really do not trust the one I have, especiall with the new load I have on it. Here is what all I'm running-
AMD 3500+
1 GB DDR 400
2 Vantec Tornadoes
2 No-Name LED Fans
1 52X CD Burner
4 80 GB hard drives (1 regular, 2 spanned, 1 removable)
1 X800 Pro
1 Creative Audigy 2
1 Cathode Light
1 Wireless NIC
I also am looking at possibly upgrading my motherboard and getting an X800 Pro Crossfire when it comes out and getting a DVD burner but thats another story. So I need to power all that, at least. I definately want modular, and it has to look good. It also needs to be able to run a 24 pin motherboard. So there it is, I was looking at the Antec Neo Powers in the 500-550W range. Any other suggestions?

Hiper make a modular PSU which willhub has and rates vert good, it's available in 580W which should be more than enough for your needs and it's available in a few different colours which may or may not be important to you.

Yea, I'm in the US but I can get all of those except for the Hiper (at least last I checked). I looked at the ModStream extensively but everyone says that the cables are extremely stiff, so that means no tucking behind drives and in bays and such.
 
Ahh, well the Enermax ones look good (although from the pictures they look quite 'bulky' although they have to be within certain limits to fit in cases etc...) and they would have more than enough power.

There's a place that sells in the USA, although it says the PSU is SLI certified (not too important as you'll be using Crossfire... but last time I checked it wasn't, I'll have another look though...It is certified, that's cool.

Yes yes, the 1 kilowatt PSU. There was an ad for that in the new copy of Maximum PC that I grabbed yesterday. But anyways, I don't know, I may or may not be using Crossfire. I may just wait and get an nVidia card in a year or so. Then I would have SLi. I just haven't seen or heard anything good come from ATI recently.
 
I guess the other question would be is if you want a modular power supply or not. I can understand the appeal behind them, but the problem I have is in the inherit design issue with one of these units.

Due to the modular nature with the plugs, these add some resistance to the circuit, and ends up making the power supply work harder. Additionally, the modular capability adds a price premium.

Tagan would probably be one of the more reasonably priced units, judging from other prices I've seen. Enermax is also another good choice. Hiper seems to be pretty good too, but you did say they're not available to you.
 
I do want a modular. I don't want all those cables. Price is not an issue as long as it's under around $115. I think I have settled on the Hiper because it is indeed available in the U.S.
