I currently have this CPU (AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Processor ADX6000CZBOX - 3.0GHz, 2MB Cache, 1000MHz (2000 MT/s), Windsor, Dual-Core, Retail, Socket AM2, Processor with Fan at TigerDirect.com) installed on my computer. It's pretty nice and I'm not disappointed with it but I want to get on the curve of the Quad Core revolution. And I've only used AMD Processors on every system I've built but I'm getting curious and thinking about going with Intel this time. I know I'll have to change my mobo to fit into an Intel chip. I'm thinking about going with this CPU (Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Processor BX80580Q9400 - 2.66GHz, 6MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB, Yorkfield, Quad-Core, Retail, Socket 775, Processor with Fan at TigerDirect.com). Will it be a big step up or should I not even spend the money? I appreciate any input!
if your going for intel socket 775. the core 2 quad q6600 d0 slarc chip is the one to go for if your crazy about overclocking this chip can do it for you. intel have the edge over amd, better benchmarks so overall better performers. you will notice the difference from your current setup because it has more processing cores higher cpu speed and also a higher system bus frequency.
