    Hi all,

I know this is a little off topic but I like the help I get on this forum. Here's whats up:

Next month I am going to be out of the country for a year, so I wanted to set up my computer to act as a server so I can download torrents, music, etc at home and then connect to it using a netbook abroad.

I wanted to get advice as to the best way to do this? As of now I'm thinking to just set up a remote connection and just FTP to my home computer from the laptop. Would it be faster to just buy server space (maybe one in europe), and just store my files on that? Then I would have to download the files and upload them to the server which is probably not good.

I also wanted to find a way to set up something so my friends can upload and share their files from one central place to share music and movies.

    Any input is appreciated! Thanks!!
