ipod shuffle usb problem

i have a current generation ipod shuffle and when i plug it into one of my front panel usb ports it isnt recognized at all, when i plug it into the other its instantly recognized. The front panel usb is plugged in to just one header on the MB and i can figure out why it would be recognized in one port and not the other. All my other devices have no problem with either port as far as i know. Even an older ipod nano works fine. Can anybody shen any light on this problem? Any guesses are welcome.

fixed there was something physically wrong with the usb port on my antec 900 case and go a replacement and tried it out. Worked fine. Only manifested itself with the shuffle and one other device. Maybe a small problem with the shuffle cords usb part...
