Hey guys, I recently bought a PSU (cool master extreme power duo 650 w) on the box it says 'super silent' but to me it still sounds like a plane taking off. I dont know if to cool master this is there version of slient or if my Psu is damaged. I was thinking of taking it back to be replaced but I didnt want to come back only to find that in fact it is supposed to be this loud. Thanks for any input, Edit:/ Iv just seen another user with a similar problem 'Ashton' I dont know if our problems are related or not but it does says with intelligent fan speed control on my box. //
I don't think they're damaged, but I do think a few things: -Cooler Master's defenition of silent is different than others -The load is enough that the fan must spin faster to keep it at a decent temperature.
Well I've sent mine back, it does say "under 20dB", when it is allot louder than me antec 900's 24dB (very faint noise), probably over 30dB. Umart is going to test it, they have no reason not to give me a completely new SILENT power supply. I mean my old skool 250W was silent, why can't cooler master do it too. It seems a strange coinsidce that we both have the same type of psu and this is happening, could be cooler master trying to scam us.
My old rig used to be really loud (40dB+) then I slowly upgraded them away, but now I'm used to it I've become noise-phobic. Everything must be silenced! hey dude my psu has arrived back, I've received a replaced psu that runs much quiter than the first one. I suggest you do the same.
