Say i went gung-ho on the ram buying 2gigs of corsair ram. Is this going to make all that much difference on a pc used for gaming. this is the pc AMD 2600+ sempron 754 DFi lanParty NF3 5700le 256mb I know the system is pretty crappy but hey this is all theoretical. and seeing that ram can be kept when upgrading it would not be such a wast of money.
If the current motherboard supports the RAM you're going to buy and you are going to be upgrading in the very near future then it's not really a waste at all, however if you're buying RAM for that system with no intention of upgrading in the near future then it's a waste.
Yea, with your current system your RAM would be better than you computer, meaning that instead of RAM bottlenecking your system something else, i.e. the CPU, would. Of course this would be a huge upgrade, and you would definately notice the difference, but if you aren't going to upgrade other components get a gig.
and if im not planning to oc then is is their any point in going for the low latency modles( corsair and kingston are my best bets in this country). Is their much improvement on normal modles
Depends on what you're playing, or intending to play. If you're still playing Unreal Tournament, then the payoff is going to be close to nil, if any. However (and assuming you update that video card), looking to play FEAR and Battlefield 2, this would be a very good move.
Well, low latency is always better, but it is more expensive, and even more so with 2 GB kits. I have a 2 GB kit that runs 3-4-4-8 2t, but of course it runs at 500 Mhz so I guess that is a bad example. Anyways, if you want ot spend extra money then go for the low latency, but once again if you aren't going to upgrade the rest of your computer then don't go for 2 GB in the first place.
Thanx. See i cant realy afford a full upgrade now and i want a bit more life from that pc abouve so i just thought that if i get a bit more ram I might be able to keep it abit longer. Which is better kingstone or corsair. cuz i think i might as well order some then.
