I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Sound Card and was interested in these speakers; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wharfedale-Diamond-8-3-Speakers-BLACK-finish-BNIB_W0QQitemZ5845469693QQcategoryZ14993QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but these have a speaker cable input and the sound card a mini jack input, how would this work? Are there any conversion kits available?
You'd need to go through an external amplifier for those. I don't think desktop PC sound cards are enough to push those, PC sound cards don't have high-powered amplifiers, so even if there were a conversion kit you'd need a decent amplifier (either separate or in the kit) to run them. Even low end PC speakers have a small amplifier in them, it's just in-build because they're an 'all-in-one' amplified 'unit' (I use those terms loosely because they're hardly never in the same actual place/unit) Hope that explains it. *Matt
