Laptop display not working

Okay, I'm not a tech guru, so I'm not really sure what info you guys are going to need, so tell me if you need more. I have a Dell Latitude D630, and I recently took it apart to put in a new fan and display hinge. When I put it back together, the display didn't work. I've hooked it up to the monitor on my desktop, but it doesn't work either. When I looked inside to see if I missed anything, the only thing I could find wrong was that I had accidentally mixed up the antenna cables on the WLAN card, so that the black was where the white should be and vice versa. The actual display cable was firmly plugged in, but I knew it was fine anyways since my desktop monitor didn't work either. I grounded myself before I touched the system components, so I didn't zap anything. So I need to know two things: 1. Did mixing up the cables on the WLAN permanently screw up my computer, and 2. If not, are there any other possible problems that I should check for?

Hi,
When you power on the laptop, are the number lock, caps lock, and scroll lock leds flashing, solid, or off in any combination? If so, those are a post code you can look up at dell to see what is going on. If, however they act normally when you hit their respective keys on the keyboard, it means your system has booted successfully and the problem is either the onboard video adapter, the lcd, or the connection between the adapter on the board I think. I dont think the WLAN could have done this. When you tried the external monitor, did you use a blue vga cable to connect to the monitor? If so, the monitor needs to be set to analog signal, but if you used a cable with the white ends (DVI) you would need to set the monitor to accept a digital input. Sometimes when using an external monitor, you have to hit I think function key + F8 or F7 to get it to display as well. When you replaced the LCD hinge screw, did the LCD cable get pinched when you put it back together? Not sure what they are made of, but if it was fiber optic cable maybe it got crushed?
