    Hi everyone,

First of all - Thank you for reading - I hope we can figure out my problems. I have never asked for support before. This is my first desktop in 10 years, and I've just spent a fair amount of money on what I thought was a good setup.

    Here's what I have:

    MB: Gigabyte EX58-UD4P
    CPU: Intel i7 920
    GPU: Gigabyte GTX 285-UD
    RAM: Corsair DDR3 4GB (2 x XMS3 2GB) 10600/1333
    PSU: Antec TruePower New 650W
    HDD: WD Caviar Black 500GB 7200RPM 32MB 3Gbs
OS: Windows Vista x64 (Home Premium OEM), updated as of ~8th Sept 2009.

I put it together without any proper knowledge of compatibility - while I did try to copy builds I saw online, I'm not sure if what I finally went with actually works together. (1) If there's anything that pops out and screams "INCOMPATIBLE" please let me know :) Corsair's website does not list my motherboard in its compatibility list.

I plugged everything in, turned it on, and it worked. So no overclocking, no tweaked BIOS settings (except boot sequence). I tried to keep drivers up to date (using drivers issued by the manufacturers, NOT Microsoft).

It had been working perfectly for 2 months, then it stopped.

I use Photoshop and Illustrator alot. I was using them when the major issues started...

I have had many different Blue Screens - even in SAFE MODE while not doing anything, even while loading Windows, even while loading SAFE MODE. Here's the list of errors so far (there might have been more - I just figured out how to disable auto-reboot):

    BAD_POOL_CALLER
    MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
    APC_INDEX_MISMATCH
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    SPECIAL_POOL_DETECTED_MEMORY_CORRUPTION
"Processor thread crucial to system operation..."
    "ecache.sys"
    "Windows Host Service shut down"

Furthermore, sometimes when I try to boot up, nothing appears on screen.

Now Windows Safe Mode will not stay up for longer than a few minutes.

Troubleshooting - what I've done so far (before Windows became unusable):

Checked all cables, HDD and RAM connection
Checked CPU/GPU temperature while running - all at normal temps
Run -> Verifier.exe - rebooted, all drivers appear to be fine
Control Panel -> Admin -> Windows Memory Diagnostics - errors found (Google tells me that this program returns false negatives)
    Restored BIOS to Failsafe Defaults
    Restored BIOS to Optimised Defaults
    Uninstalled all non-Windows programs
Tried running on 1 RAM stick. BSOD for both memory sticks

Windows Safe Mode now throws Blue Screens.

I have decided to try MemTest86+. As I type this, it is doing its thing. I don't understand what it's doing, or what I'm supposed to look for. (2) Please help with MemTest86+ :)

Next steps (if no memory errors found):

Put the HDD into another computer and backup data.
Check BIOS ((3) I need help with this - don't understand clocks and voltage)
    Format, re-install Windows Vista.
If that fails, format, install Windows XP.

Any help you can provide is very very much appreciated.
I have highlighted the (3) issues in red.

    Thank you :O

    Welcome to HWF :)

That's definitely a problem with your RAM. The program Memtest can test if there are problems with your RAM. If it detects problems, it's best to replace it.
