Hello I have had problems with my RAM after installing it on the computer. My motherboard is this: Core - Auckland (Asus M2N-NVM) Motherboard - spec_Auckland - Information and Instructions - IMEDIA 2415 - PB34313691 - iMedia - platform_honeymoon_imedia - Desktop RAM: Komplett.no - Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 2048MB, 256Meg x 64, CL5, 667MHz, 240-pin After installing this ram I have had bluescreen with memory dump. Programs have also suddenly quited (firefox, skype, msn). I have updated my Bios, and also performed memtest, but memtest cannot find anything wrong with my RAM. After installing my old ram again, my computer is stable. One of the bluescreen messages is this: top: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x805B1058, 0xB5B89AB0, 0x00000000) Do you know what is wrong? I have asked on different forum, but no one seems to know the answer. If you want me to try to provide more information I will do that. I am not very familiar with adjusting setting in Bios, and my language is not english. Please tell me simple how I can solve this problem. Thank you.
That BSOD is pretty generic so it's hard to say the exact issue based on that error. How long did you run memtest? At least through one full pass right? My initial thought is that the timings on the RAM you bought aren't quite right for your motherboard. If possible, what I'd do is exchange that Corsair RAM for pretty much anything else (however, I'd stick with the pc2 5300). So unless someone else has some better ideas for your problem, that's what I'm leaning towards. PS. On a side note, without being very familiar with the BIOS, I'm sure you could do something simple like set it back to default.
I did memtest for 16 hours. Memtest found no errors. I used both RAMS when testing. Can I manually change my timings? Can you say how? Do you think I can change my RAM without any cost? or did I just waste my money on RAM that doesent work?
i got problem here my computer didn't budge whats hte cause of a problem? need your reply asap.. thanks and mabuhay...
test for bad ram Apple has said the Flat Panel iMac can only take PC133 RAM. Strange as it may seem the Apple System Profiler registers that RAM even when it is the correct kind as PC100. The only way on a Flat Panel iMac to detect whether or not PC133 RAM is installed is by booting from the included hardware test CD and running the hardware tests. That test CD will identify some errors if there are any. At one point I had some serious issues with a replacement motherboard that first wouldn't see my included RAM, and then the video went bad on it. The Hardware Test CD saw it as defective RAM at that time, but actually it was a defective motherboard.
