I have had 2 GB of memory up to now now (4 sticks of 512MB installed in slots 1,4 and 2,5 respectively). I just bought two more 512 sticks from Geil and installed them in the remaining slots 3 and 6. My system can't see this new memory. So I took out all the memory sticks and just put the new sticks in the slots 1 and 3. The system showed 1 GB of memory, so I know the new sticks are not defective. That leads me to think that the slots 3 and 6, and not the new memory, are defective. Am I correct in my conclusion? Can I remedy this problem somehow? Thanks. The mother board is about 4 years old Gigabyte 8KNXP 2d revision.

Thanks a lot, guys. I've just figured it out. I have to have four SS memory modules and only two DS modules if I want to have 3 GB memory in this motherboard.
