My new computer has a sata hard drive with Vista on it. I have the drive from my last computer with XP Pro on it but it is IDE. If I install the IDE drive also what kind of problems can I expect? Will there be a conflict? Can I move back and forth OK? Thanks

IDE/PATA and SATA are physical and electrical variations that implement the same standard (ATA). As already stated, there should be no problems using either one. While they're physically incompatible with each other in regards to the data cable, you can use them side-by-side without issue as many motherboards are equipped with both IDE and SATA ports.
