modem

    hi all
    im using an old computer (mines died just keeps beeping but thats another story) with onboard sound which is enabled in bios but i havnt got sound im plugged into line out, in control panel it says no audio device, under audio tab it says default device modem #0 line playback ,also in device manager i have a yellow ? by other devices,multimedia audio controller the pc did have a modem installed which i have physically removed and uninstalled i have no idea on mobo but it says it has a duron 1.29ghz( i can open it up and try and find out which mobo) also will i have to install drivers for sound will it be a realtek AC97

    PCWizard can tell you everything you could want to know
    uninstall AC/97 drivers + download new drivers + reboot, stop the add hardware wizard + install the drivers you downloaded, that should sort it

    sorry it too a while to get back that pcwizard is a really neat little utility i had a elite mobo didnt even have to open the box
