Today I plugged in my USB stick into the USB port in my desktop and the metal from the USB stick hit the metal of the USB port (let a small spark out) and the CPU and the monitor turned off. I turned the CPU on but cannot see anything on the monitor, however the red and green lights on the CPU seems to light up like the CPU is working fine. This happened a couple weeks ago the exact same way and it came on after a few days of trying two different monitors several times. Not sure how it fixed itself then, but it did. Obviously I need not use that USB stick again, but I need to be able to see the moniter. I was just about to format my computer when this happened. Have any ideas?
Someone suggested it might be the CMOS battery and to talk it out, do you recommend this?

Might have fried something due to the discharge. If you have access try another monitor.
