Right, my TFORCE P965 SOCKET 775 motherboard has some blown capacitors and now my pc won't turn on. I have an ati 4870 HD and a Q6600 processor. When selecting a new motherboard should I look at just the socket spec in terms of compatibility? Any recommendations regarding what to get on a reasonable budget? Also, is the heat paste thingy sold separately or is it provided with motherboards? thanks!
right I'm thinking of getting this ASRock one ASRock > ???????? > ????? ??????????? ???? > G41C-S seems to fit all my specs but why is it so cheap?? I've read that ASRock is the "low end ASUS" - is my system gonna be slower with this one?
Hi, The first things I would look at in a new board is compatibility with my existing hardware. You want to be sure that the board can support your current cpu and also be sure that it can run your current RAM. If you have any peripheral cards or devices, make sure it has the expansion slots that you need, as well as enough usb/fire wire ports. Lastly, I look at form factor to make sure its going to fit in my computer case. As for AS Rock motherboards, I think they are pretty solid. They just dont have a lot of extra features on some models (which is why they are cheaper), such as on board video. Since you have a video card already it wont really matter. I bought an AS rock board 4 years ago and its still going strong in one of my computers with 0 problems! If you are really not sold on AS rock boards though, check out some of these socket LGA 775 boards from newegg.com for a few other choices Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Motherboards,Intel Motherboards,LGA 775 The thermal paste is almost always something that you have to buy seperately. I buy the arctic silver 5 ceramique paste and have been very happy with it so far. Just follow the instructions on the manufacturer's website and you should have no problems
