ive got a Radeon x550. im not sure whether or not it is over heating when i play games, or its just my openGL video mode :O

ok, so when i play counterstrike and i set it to openGL video mode, it will crash in about 10 seconds maybe. the whole pc will just stop doing everything and crash. its usualy judering because you have to run around on Counterstrike.

also, when i use google earth and crank up the graphics on that it will do exactly the same if i put it on openGL video mode. so i wasnt entirely sure if its the card or my version or openGL ?:(

I wud try two ways to fix it.

1. clean out gfx card from dust, make sure it has sufficient airflow.

2. reinstall gfx card drivers or update
 
when did it start ?
has anything changed, when this problem started ?
is there a patch available for the game ?
as roy said, have you got the latest drivers installed ?
