my user profile is gone, please help

Here is my problem, I turn my computer on and select my personal profile, type in my password and log in. The wait to load my personal settings is much longer than usual. When it finally loads, I notice that my wallpaper is the DELL default wallpaper. I then notice that this is a default profile and my shortcuts are gone. When I open windows media, I have to do a search just to get all my audio files on the audio library. In addition to this, my favorites in the IE are gone as well as my homepage. I can do a file search which eventually finds all my files, folders, and programs on the C: drive, but what has happened to my profile? I did get a notification that my program contained and error or something like that. How can I retrieve my profile? I have used it for everything since the day I brought the CPU home. This is very frustrating. Thanks in advance for your help
 
USe antivirus and spyware scan to check for anything that could have caused damage.
