I think everyone of you has encountered this unwelcome thing. See, I got this PC which has a P4 ~2.6 GHz with standart cooling and the fan causes painful sound. It seems to be because of some fan vibration - that's what I'd say. What could be other causes? And, most important of all, should I change the fan or attempt to fix/clean/whatever it somehow? ...

P.S. do you guys know any good guide where (prefferably visual) the removal of a socket 478 pentium 4 fan would be nicely written/put down? Cause I kinda find this procedure complicated - there are some parts which just won't give in (see image below) and let loose. I don't want to pull it too hard, if you know what I mean.

just like my old P4, 2.8 GHz HT... just pull out the leg from the lower part of it... it sounds a bit hard, but you just have to release one side then the other. Do not pull it diagonally.
