    Hi,

You may know that I've installed Kubuntu 6.10 on my laptop, and I'm now trying to get ndiswrapper working.

I've tried following a guide here, but I get to typing sudo dmesg | grep ndiswrapper in, and I don't see driver loaded, just new driver ndiswrapper registered. I've tried it a couple of times now with no luck.

Has anyone got any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks, Thomas

HERE is the guide how to use it on SUSE. But it should work the same on most other distros.

Thanks, but I'm following a guide specific for my laptop. I'd managed to install it fine using the instructions from the ndiswrapper site. The problem seems to be it's not loading the drivers, but instead only registering them.

    Thanks, Thomas

Try continuing with the guide and see if it works. I think I have the same wifi card, or a very similar one in my acer notebook. I got it working with ndiswrapper as well in kubuntu 6.10.

I'm having this same problem with my USB WLAN dongle Sagem XG760A.

I'm posting a screenshot to show what happens. I can't continue with the guide because Kubuntu doesn't recognise there is a wireless device (which can be seen when I type iwconfig).

The guide says typing "sudo dmesg | grep ndiswrapper" should give:
    However, I get:

This suggests that the driver hasn't been loaded.

    Thanks, Thomas

EDIT: Just had a thought, I'm running ndiswrapper 1.34, and the guide shows 1.22, I'll try 1.22 see if it makes any difference.

Yet another EDIT: How do I uninstall it??
