Need Urgent Help with Laptop

Hey guys,

My laptop randomly shut off today and I need it for tomorrows presentation at work.

I have a Compaq Presario 2100. When I turn it on, there is a black screen that says

"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully"

When I click Safe Mode, I there is a whole bunch of messages like that say

"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW\"

A whole bunch of different messages.

When I click Start Windows Normally, there is a Windows loading screen and the computer shuts off.

What do I do?

What happens at the end of the various messages in Safe Mode?

It shuts off and restarts.

It may be that this is the work of a virus or maleware or the result of the work of a virus or malware. Personally I would download a live cd with virus scan and run it first to see if it can pick up any infections. Just Google for "Live cd antivirus scan". There are scores of results. I would favour the Linux ones.

Messed with Boot.ini I guessed.
For Boot.ini you can re-install your windows.
