Okay my uncle has quired a pc from his work. Ive formatted it and put XP on. Now to set up the internet. start using the wizard (yes im a n00b). Then realise the netowrk card doesnt have drivers. I go to device manager and look, it wants to connect to the net to serach for a driver but i clearly cant do that as I need the driver to connect to the net. so I think Ill download the driver on my pc and transfer it to his but the only name it gives 'Ethernet controller' which is about as helpful as a turd wrapped up in a blanket. Any ideas what I can do?

(I realise this is a driver problem aswell to so feel free to move this thread)

Get on a PC that does have an ethernet connection and download the drivers. You don't need the wizard for anything, once the drivers are in the network will work.

Chances are, you are going to have to open up his PC and have a look at whats installed.

    You could try this program:

    www.lavalys.com

It's the ultimate hardware information tool

Just incase you didn't understand Megamaced's post with the link to the system information tool (it will tell u exactly what the make and model of your network card is).
