HI
i have just got my new router and adapter card but i have a problem with it.
everything on my laptop is working fine with the internet on but on my desktop with the router on that has slowed down dramattically.
Does any one know the solution to this.
Specs
isp.aol
router.netgear one 54mps
card.dont know (soz)
desktop specs
its a dell dimension 2400
cpu
pen.4 ht
not sure of the speed it i think its like a 2.4 or 2.8
hardrive not sure a reakon aroun 80gb or somethin
memory 512
dont know the mother board.

i think the problem is just the router slowing the pc down , so my question really is how do i fix this.
thanks

what do you mean slowed down? the computer or the internet?

Try clearing the cache or the temp internet files. Or do you have any antiivirus software?

have you done something recently which might have caused this to happen? e.g. installed new software, computer crashed etc

Hi
no i have not loaded any software on it as i do not use this pc i use my laptop , the only reason im bothered about this pc is that my grandad needs to use it for banking money online and he cant do that at the moment do to this problem, well he can but its extremly slow (the pc).
and the pc crashes nearly everyday but only once i turn aol on if i use something like internet explorer its still slow but now where near as slow.
so if aol or the pc does carsh i have to turn all the power off and start again this happens aorund 2-4 a day.
thanks

try uninstalling the aol software to see if it makes any difference. also make sure you close all programs which are not being used.

try disconnecting the router to see if that make a difference, ur internet alone wouldn't slow it down download spybot seach and destroy from www.downloads.com free!!! hope this helps Dave :good:
