New Build Video Cards

I'm building a new PC for the primary purpose of completing a hopefully short-lived difficult video capturing/recording project (code named "DocumentItOrGoCryInYourSocks - Wuss"). Rather than purchase a DVR/DVS system which I will be of little use to me at project's end, I decided to build a DVR PC (PVR?). And, besides my current 3 PCs are 5 years old, anywho). In talking to a video capturing software writer I asked if a particular video card (not the capture card - that's a different issue) was required or desirable. The response was "any All In Wonder card will do". So, I stumbled on to the ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon X800 XL. Is that a good pick?

Also, I was thinking of buying a cheap video card to test the new install for fear of complicating the install with an ATI card because I thought I read in an ASUS forum that someone had a problem with an ATI card.

Before I go further - the build so far is: Asus P5ND2-Sli Deluxe and Intel 840 XE LGA775 3.2, dual core hyper-threading (or, some would suggest, dual-hype). I also am back to considering SCISI 39320's instead of SATAs.

Any suggestions (other than don't do the dual-hypes, (cuz Im goin to do it - it's only money!).

Hi m8 i would go 4 the best u can afford its tru that scsi is fasta than ata and i have always prefered nvidea over any ati graphics card but thats down to personal pereference, i think u need to do a little more research into this till u spend alot of cash , Dave

Right now there have been some games that use both cores, so we're not going to tell you to not to go down the dual core route.:)

That video card is going to be good for most games right now, its not high end and I'm not sure how much the extra features hit performance, but its more than enough for most uses and won't do bad in games either.

However, if you want more power in your video card, then why don't you get a dedicated graphics card and buy separate PVR function cards to add on. Then that way they can be easily upgraded.
