Ive just joined a new forum called bankingchargeshell.co.uk lots of like minded individuals taking there banks to court for unfair charges imposed on bank accounts. Im taking HSBC to court to the tune of £1700 pounds for the last 6yrs of unfair charges. Join up and maybe you could be a winner too.
its bankchargeshell.co.uk - Bank Charges by unfair charges, it means anything over what the bank might have lost by you going over your overdraft (which cant be much more than £1, in interest and a letter telling you to pay up!). so the £25 overdraft fee's arnt recovering costs, there fines... which there not allowed to do... so you can claim it back + extra for your time! looks like fun, i'll have to get a overdraft and try this!
Yeah legally no-one can fine you without taking you to court first (in the UK anyway I believe) so if someone gives you a fine make sure you take 'em to court, chances are they'll drop the case as it'd be wasted money.
The UK is just getting to grips with suing its banks over ridiculous charges imposed for late/missed payments. The office of fair trading has ruled that any charge of more than £12 for late/missed payments is deemed as a fine/penalty and therefore can be challenged by the consumer, The great thing is is that these charges can be backdated so banks are increasingly seeing more and more people claiming thousands back in unfair charges
Yeah, what the UK motorists need to do is to challenge fines for parking tickets, as the appeal system of the companies / organisations giving out the fines is usually one guy looking at the letters for about 5 seconds and saying "nah, nah, nah, nah" to each one that wants to try and appeal their case, the way the organisations win is when people give up and just pay the charges because they don't see any other option, but if a fine is given out without going to court and getting a ruling first then it's illegal. Or so I've heard / I understand.
