    Hey Guys,

Previously i had a 512mb stick of RAM installed on my system (amd athlon xp 3000+, 80gig) and my pc was running fine. I purchased 1GB of ram the a while back, see here: MY NEW RAM. If you click here you can see the specifications of my mobo, which is a Asus A7V600-X.

I sent back my 1GB of ram deaming it to be faulty. They tested it and said it was in-fact not faulty and was running fine, then they asked for my mobo information, and then they replied with:

I received the new ram today and it still doesn't work and it gives all the same errors as last time (stated below).

I installed the 1GB of ram and i checked on an app called cpuz and it detected it as a 4MB ram slot, here are 2 screenshots of cpu-z, each showing the information in slot1 and slot2:

Also, right clicking my computer said i still only had 512 ram though. Then i installed a program called Belarc Advisor and it said the slot my new ram was in, was in-fact empty. I then took out my 512 ram and ran it just with the 1GB ram and it gave me a load of BEEPS and didn't work. I am currently just running on the 512ram. As soon as i loaded my PC up after first installing the new ram, i entered to bios and it said i had 512 ram also.

On the RAM itself, there is a label that reads:

I just tried booting it up with my 1GB ram in slot #1. After it beeped half a million times and wouldnt start the PC, i went back to my 512 ram and on load it loaded the BIOS and said:

Basically, from what people on this forum said last time, and from what the company i purchased it off of, the ram should work, but i've had 2 different ram's now and neither have worked at all.

Anyone have any ideas on what i can do? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Taz-

maybe try going with some completely different RAM and see if that works, if it does then you know its that manufacturer that's the problem.

Well first of all, your running 512MB of Spectek in DIMM 1 and 1GB of Samsung in DIMM 2, swap them around so Samsung is in DIMM 1 and the Spectek is in DIMM 2. Always install the largest RAM in DIMM 1 and then smaller in DIMM2, smallest in DIMM 3 etc...

Also could be the fact that your running two completely different brands with different timing capabilities which can cause many conflicts. And lastly, check with the ASUS website to see if the RAM is in fact compatible with that board!
Although i've had problems with Spectek RAM before i doubt this is the case in your situation.

When you boot your PC into BIOS with the 1GB stick on its own (in slot 1)
What does BIOS tell you about it?
