For the last twenty years or so, I have been using an MS DOS-based database package. Although it still erforms perfectly well and does all tha I wish, it has, effectively, reached the end of its life. In order to install it on a new PC, I need an insatallation code from the company that wrote the package, but they no longer support it in any way. Thus, I cannot buy a new computer, because this package won't run on it. Can anybody, please, suggest how I might solve this problem? Naturally. I don't want to have to re-key all the information i have within this application - it would take a month of Sundays. Cheers. Tom
If you haven't purchased it yet, compare the different database software you're considering upgrading to and look at the supported file formats. Compare that with the file format(s) your current database offers. The specifics would depend on the particular program you're using now and what you'll be moving to. If it's from the same company, you may have better luck, but that really depends on the software and file format.
