I am having some problems with office xp. Every time I go to open a program in office it will hang at the splash screen and crash if I click on it. If I do not touch it the screen will stay for at least 2-4 mins before opening the program. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall office even in different directories but the problem still exists. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you deleting the office folder under programs each time. Also use regedit to find the left over folders..

Also make sure to delete/rename this folders and see if it makes a difference

    C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Application Data\Microsoft\Office

I've solved loads of problems with many versions of office by deleting this personal settings/templates hive.

I am running Vista so it is harder to find those temp files then it is with xp. If you have any exp using Vista would you know where to locate the office temp and user folders?

Have you updated to the latest office xp service pack? Ive never used anything less than 2003 on vista so cannot vouch for it's compatibility.

C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local folder or something along those lines, ive not currently got a vista machine to hand to check.

    The Vista equivalent of
    Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[i]YOUR USER NAME HERE[/i]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE
    C:\Documents and Settings\[i]YOUR USER NAME HERE[/i]\Application Data\Microsoft\Office
    is
    Code:
    c:\user\[i]YOUR USER NAME HERE[/i]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE
