Old p4 in 865 MoBo

I have one of the original P4s (1.3 Ghz, 256k L2, 400 FSB) and was wondering if anyone knew if these would work in one of the new 865pe chipset motherboards, with a 423 to 478 adapter of course? I want to begin an upgrade of my computer but can't do it all at once, and the 865pe chipset does support 800 FSB and HT so I can upgrade the CPU later when I can afford it without having to dump my current one.
 
I know the chipset supports the 400 mhz bus but I dont know about the pin converters. They must work though otherwise they wouldnt be sold.

Think of the overclocking too!

To be honest though Id just wait and save the pennys. A 1.8a is about £115, 2.4b about £130 and a 2.4c about £150. Those converters are summit like £20-30.
Id just save. lol Well, I am doing.
 
It can work, but only if the CPU uses the newer mPGA478 socket as opposed to the older Socket 423.
 
(in little kid whining voice) But I don't wanna save, I want faster now...lol...not that just a new mobo would speed things up that much, if at all.
