Optical drive "keeps jumping the gun."

Whenever I open my combo drive it blinks for a bit and then closes after about 4 seconds or so, usually crushing my cd or finger:x: Is there any easy way of resetting the close time to like 20 seconds or whatever? I definately don't remember it always doing this, nor can I recall fooling around with it. Any help would be appreciated.
 
I swear computers are turing against us as we speak...hey look now my front case light is dying (I'm totally serious), that's a dumb way to get back at me:x:
