Optimizing color on my new LCD

Just bought a 22" 226bw from samsung. So far, it's been ok at best. The colors were not ideal out of the box, and i downloaded an update that alleviated it a bit from this website Samsung 226BW A and S series: The verdict (page 3: The 226BW A series : calibrate your screen at no cost) - BeHardware.

The color is improved, but it's not ideal. I was wondering if you guys could help me improve it. I don't know much about LCD's and standard optimization tests, but overall, the monitor is a touch too bright. For instance, in all the optimization tests i've run the "Bars" or colors i'm not supposed to see are clear as day. This is with the gamma setting monitor at its lowest.

The setting I'm using right now looks pretty good, but when I go to watch movies, they look DARK and REDDISH. Very bad stuff.

I'm using a 6800gt from evga and would appreciate any tips on making my new display look its best!

thanks.
