my dad has a P4 630 3.0 Ghz and ti runs at around 122 F degrees under a 50% load acheived by the Itunes visulizer and Band in Box I am just wondering if thats an alright temp or not the cooler was just installed a day ago it is a masscool 7WD01L3 cooler he used arctic silver 5 on it I know do you think it is going to get a tad cooler yet?
thank you his case has horriable air flow but we are doing what we I opened a vet he has on it, that helped a bit it came down 10 degrees
One thing that can help is tying wires out of the way with some zip-ties. Cables don't exactly make for good airflow.
The later Pentium 4 and Pentium D models were based on the Cedar Mill (single core) or Presler (dual core), which aren't exactly cool under load. My Pentium D 920 can run around 25-27*C at idle, but can shoot up past 40*C with about 50% of a load. You might consider using a hole saw and put a fan in the side of the case to cool the system down.
