New to partitioning, and I've so far created some partitions, but what does merging partitions mean? Should I merge them? What does that do? Also, how do I get all my files to their appropriate drive, and how would I seperate the os to one drive? Before partitioning I had all data on one 320 sata hd My Planned Partition Breakdown would be: O/S-10gb Office/Apps-50gb Media-50gb Games-50gb Other-38gb Backup-100gb (c drive is 320gb sata 2, reads as 298gb) This thread is a continuation from My Computer won't restart ; I decided to start off a new thread with this, since it continued to a new topic
Good idea on the new thread. I haven't used partition magic in a while, but I assume merging is just as it implies: combining more than one partition. In this case if you merged your Media and Games partition you would be left with a 100GB partition and no more "Media" or "Games"
oh ic, and for organizing files to the appropriate drives, do you remember if you had to do it all manually(that would sucK), or was there some sort of wizard that will help you transfer files to your drives
never used PM8, i use Acronis Partition Expert (now superceeded by Disc Director) Partition Expert 2k3 is excellent, and allows you to easily create a bootable CD (just boot from CD to manage partitions, check this
