Changed my Intel 845 & its PC133 RAM today for an Abit SG72 with Pc3200.

Had serious probs- Win XP SP2 would not boot tho BIOS seemed ok - all RAM & CPU recognised, settings are sticking etc. Finally got past the non-booting OS by uninstalling the Intel IDE driver and installing the default Win XP one. With the new mobo now working I then installed the SiS drivers.

However system is now VERY unstable. Win XP frequently reboots while loading, at different points. Sometimes even booting into safe mode hangs or reboots. Sometimes system just reboots when I'm running something tho this is rare.

Have a feeling the video setup may be implicated - have an FX5600 and will try going try going back to basic VGA driver or pulling the card and seeing how I get on with the integrated graphics for a bit.

I have 3dfx drivers installed for an alternate PCI V5500 but this is not currently fitted and the 3dfx driver tools are not loaded on startup at present to avoid a conflict.

    Any suggestions welcome!

Any suggestions?- first attempt has left an odd situation where the NVidia drivers are still listed in DevMan

I was afraid of that, fool that I am. Because I only have one of those OEM (Tiny) factory reset CDs, not the full OS CD. Am I right in thinking these restore CDs are no good for this, and would reset things for the original mobo? Is there no other way?
