I have an asrock k7s8x motherboard with an amd athlon 2800. I usually leave my pc running all day. I came in from work after a 12 hour shift & it was completely dead. Tried to start but nothing. screen was flashing & fans were running but bios not even starting. i've tried graphics card & it's not that. asked a friend & he said it was possibly motherboard which i've changed like for like an asrock k7s8x. & its still the same. please help i've ran out of ideas!
sounds as though is overheating, possibly your CPU, try underclocking your CPU (2000Ghz, only for testing pupposes, and see if it works)
Its possibly the power supply . .try changing it . . i had the same problem mate. chipset from inside are damaged but the fan is working alright. Powersupply . .
I agree with FrOz3nD: it sounds like your power supply just can't pass the muster anymore. Failing that, an overheating might be an issue, but what you're describing seems more like a PSU issue.
Yeah it wouldn't make sense for it to be an overheating thing, I'd think. Because u haven't done anything unusual; like you said, u always leave the comp on all the time and there's been no problems. It wouldn't make sense for it to suddenly start overheating by a great deal out of the blue unless your fans or cpu fan broke, but u say fans are the one thing that actually do work. Soo, it must have been something that died from wear & tear, and PSU is a prime suspect.
