PLEASE HELP!!! - Getting any DVD Writer to Work

:confused: Please help, I am having a knightmare gettin DVD Writers to work in my Computer.

I currently have the following:

AMD 64 3000Ghz
1Gb DDR RAM
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro (K8 Triton Series - Take Note, this a nForce 3 Motherboard)
LG DVD Drive
NVidia FX5700LE Gaphics Card
Windows XP SP2

I have already tried to install Sony DW-u14A DVD Writer and a Pioneer DVR-A05 DVD Writer, but neither of them I can get to burn properly. I have tried using the default windows IDE controllers drivers and the normal nForce3 drives but still no luck. I have also tried upgrading the firmware on both drives but still no luck. And yes I have also tried all the usual tricks such as trying to burn using a slower speed but still no luck. I really do not know what to do as my CD-Writer burns fine, but DVD writers do not burn.

Can anyone help? I thought it might be an incompatibility at first with the IDE drivers, but surely not two different drives.

Also take note, I use Norton Internet Security.

You could have some problems with the two makers. I have never heard of something like they both wont burn anything. Did you install them before or after you downloaded SP2 for XP. The only thing i can think of is that they are not working with XP and its drivers that come in the SP2 pack. IF you can still get another companys but if you cant look up for some tech support on their sites. Their might be some good information their.
 
Well, the next thing that you might try is searching for "nvide.nvu" and deleting all instances of it. If you have System Restore enabled, disable it before you search for and delete nvide.nvu.

I had to do that to get my CD-burning issues resolved.
 
Sorry for the delay. My DVD burning software is Nero 6 and basically whenever I get between 16% and 40% the burn fails. This happens in simulation as well. I cannot see it is the disks as I have tried many different types.

I have tried rolling back the ide drivers, which also included removing nvide.nvu, mind u I didn't disable the System Restore (How?).


I think for a last resort I might just format the computer, reinstall Windows XP SP1 and then try and install it.
