i was transferring my guts of a gateway:O into a new case it wasnt an atx motherboard but i tapped some holes and made it work,, now onto the problem the heatsink that covered the CPU was screwed into the mobo tray with springs for pressure.. i cleaned the cpu and heatsink and applied new thermal paste. but after 30 minutes after boot up it felt pretty hot in their by the heatsink, i dont know the exact temperature,,,, but how much is normal for temperature right by the heatsink?. and is their a certain amout of pressure i should put on the CPU with the heatsink i feel its on their pretty snug right know .
It depend on the CPU as to how much heat it can handle. SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer Use that program to check your temperatures.
Well, you should feel some heat by the heatsink. It should be decently warm. Still, you do want a program that will report the temp readings so you know if things are okay.
