i am trying to install Ubuntu on my existing Kubuntu HDD, but, i received an unexpected error, free space unusable (61120Mb) i personally don't know why this error occurred, because, i only have 1 primary partition & an extended partition containing everything else (obviously excluding /boot) please help if you can (again) BTW: i'm currently on Ubuntu liveCD, and obviously posting a screenshot didn't work successfully, so, i'll try to describe the situation i created a / (size: 2048Gb) partition and creation of further partition is not possible, my partitions: hda1 = /boot - 98Mb - the only primary partition (my original Kubuntu Gutsy) hda5 = kbun / - 17125Mb hda6 = /home (kbun) - 10478Mb hda7 = /vm - 31453Mb - all my vm's hda8 = /spr - 31453Mb - basically i put it in there if i don't know what else to do with it this is on a 160Gb HDD
Well, I've never personally seen this problem, but I did find another thread (not here) where a ubuntu user has the same problem. On another website, the problem with kubuntu turned out to be (and I'm guessing that this is yours):
well as you can plainly see from the following image i only have 2 primary partitions gparted.png[ot]problems with online image hosts[/ot]thank you for replying
Ah, well I'll admit that I'm left clueless. I mean, you could always remove EVERYTHING and start over, but I dont think that's what you want to do and neither is it the proper solution. I will keep looking around to see if I can help you more successfully, but in the mean time maybe if we're lucky someone like AT will stop by.
i've actually found the original screenshot i took, i must have mounted my /home partition from the LiveCD, because i found it on my desktop:doh:, anyway it's here now http://aycu24.webshots.com/image/44503/2004283273473521010_rs.jpg
