Having just recently purchased and installed a XFX 6600GT i found that i needed a minimum of 300 to 450 watts of system power. My 250 watt PSU was useless so today i purchased a JEANTECH JNP-500AP 500w power supply. I fitted it, yet everytime i start the PC I get a warning telling me that the 6600GT isnt getting enough power and as limited its performance as a result. When i troubleshoot this i get a window telling me that i must connect the supplemental power supply cables to the card, even though the 6600GT does not any ports for supplemental connections, nor did any cables come with it. Do i have to reset anything? what am i doing wrong? i am tearing my hair out with it.

I hate to break it to you, but the amperage of that "500W" unit includes 18A on a single 12V rail. If your running something stronger than a Socket A Athlon or Northwood Pentium 4 system, that's not going to cut it. The specs for that Jeantech unit are more comparable to a 350-400W unit at best.
Get something like a Tagan or Enermax unit. I'm not saying Jeantech produces crappy units, but, like a good chunk of companies out there, they use fuzzy math to give their PSU's larger ratings than they really are.

maybe the power supplys dodgy :\, after All i just sold one on ebay, becouse i was affraid i was not getting enought power out of it, so you may have to get a better one like antec or hiper or ocz.

Well, based on how 6600GT's only have a molex connector if they're AGP, I tend to believe that he's got a PCIe version of the card. This in turn suggests that he's got an Athlon 64 or LGA775 Pentium 4/D system. I've gone ahead and linked my PSU thread in my sig, bazza, and I suggest having a read so you can be a better informed consumer.
Since that hiper unit is not the jeantech PSU or XFX card that's the subject of this thread, yes, I would suggest creating a new thread. If not, I'll simply move them to a new thread.

I have fixed the problem. Seems i hadnt pushed a connection in far enough. Getting much improved graphics on dawn of war, although on a large map ( 8 player, very big area) that i created for the game ( where there's a hell of alot going on ) i still get a lot of lag. but on average everythings much improved. I only got the Jeantech power supply as a last resort today, because the store i usually go to was closed today and tomorrow, and i am such an impatient person that i went and paid for something overpriced at a large money grabbing franchise store. Anyway, i will see how things go. thanks for everyones help. cheers
