I have an ASUS AV8 Deluxe mobo, with 2x SATA 10k -60gb HD's in raid 0 configuration on the two raid SATA slots on my mobo. These are controlled by a Promise Fasttrack controller, and function fine. Recently I bought myself 1x SATA 250gb Seagate HD and hooked it up to one of two non-raid SATA slots on my mobo. (there are 4 SATA slots total) Now from browsing various forums it seems the 2x none raid SATA slot are controlled by the onboard VIA chipset. On boot up when the VIA chipset is loading, and detecting HD's I get this message. "Hardware Initate failed, Please Check Device!!! The Bios does not be installed. Press <g> to continue!" My question is, what Bios is the msg talking about?? My mobo bios is fine the comp runs fine otherwise, does the via chipset have its own bios?? I ahve isntalled the via drivers that come with the mobo, and thought mayby i needed to upgrade them, but I can not find any drivers on the via site period. The thing is im not really sure what the problem is in the first place. I attempted to update the mobo bios, but nothing seems to work.
Good to hear you got it sorted, and welcome to hardware forums! Thanks for posting the solution! I've never had a SATA2 drive, but was planning to get a REALLY big hardrive (500GB-1TB) and they all seem to be SATA2 so that might save me some time when i get it!
