Quake 4 Sound Problem

I just got New speakers and a sound card but now when ever i play quake 4 the game runs fine but there is a sound lag like i shoot and about a second and a half later the sound plays on the speakers so when im talking to people they will be moving and doing all this stuff and then just stand still while it sounds like they are talking. and i need to fix this.

Do you have the latest patch for Quake 4?
Does this only happen in Quake 4 or other games?

Are your sound card drivers installed and up to date?
What's the model of the sound card?

This happens With Every game i play but i first noticed it with Quake, the Modle of the sound card is a Dynex 5.1 and it came with a disk with the drivers on it so i just installed those i dont know if they were the up to date ones, and yes i do have the lastest Quake 4 Patch

Okay, I don't know exactly what chipset the card uses, but from what I can tell, they're using a CMI8xxx sound chip. I'd look in Device Manager and see what's said for the sound card. I doubt that Dynex has customized their drivers.

Once you know that, hit up CMedia for the latest drivers for the sound chip.

I looked in the Device manager but i did not see anything that would give me the name of the driver i have to download.
