Hello, I want to purchase 'EVGA 7950 GX 512MB' video card(for non-sli mode). Manufactures recommend me to buy power supply as: For non-SLI, the minimum requirement for this card in a standard system configuration is 400w with at least 20amps on the +12v rail. I want to ask that what is "20amps on +12V rail", and how can i check it. Secondly can any one guide any good power supply which fullfills the above requiremens. I have only one option to buy from Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras, and Electronics and thirdly can i purchase EVGA brand??? is it good ?? Please please help me in this regard?? Regards, Eshban
You can normally find the amperage on the product specs. Look here for info.http://www.hardwareforums.com/power-supply-sticky-5218/
I've been hearing very good reviews about the Antec True Power 5.0 550W Power Supply. That's the one I ended up going with even though I don't have the GX2, I know it's capable of providing more than enough power for it. Here it is----> Antec Tru Power Or, you could always go for the best of the best--->PC Power and Cooling 510W or 610W
eVGA is safe. I've been running their 6600GT for 1.5 years in my main box without a problem. They're not the flashiest company, but their products work fine, not to mention they're usually on the lower end of the pricing spectrum.
i've had two eVGA cards and they've been great, one problem but its was solved quickly and customer service is really good.
