Okay Im going to upgrade to a AMD 64 3000+ with an XFX nvidia 7800GT with a factory overclock. I was recently told that my CPU needs to be greatly upgraded or my GPU will be "bottlenecked like crazy" A. WHat does bottlenecked mean. B. It dosent sound good, so if its true, what CPU should i get instead?
Like the neck of a bottle, certain parts will only transfer and/or process data so fast. Yes, the 3000+ will be a bottleneck to a degree, but to start out with, it's not bad. Depending on how much you're willing to spend, the 3500+ or 3700+ would be about the best reasonable bets. If you want to spend more, then the 4000+ might be more up your alley.
i thought the only difference with the 3500+ and 3700+ is 1mb l2 catch, so dont the 3700+ and 3500+ not really have that much performance increases in games and other things?
Caches will have an affect on performance in some tasks. It still increases performance, and games aren't everything.
whoah, thats pretty good find there, when i get my 3500+ i am going to overclock the socks off it, should get ot 2.6ghz on stock cooling i hope.
That's why looking at prices is a good thing. If it's a small amount, the price is worth it, but if you were looking at $100, then it'd be a tougher pill to swallow.
