    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can assist me with the following.

I have 4 HD (1TB each) on software (Vista) RAID 10; however, as of yesterday I receieved a message saying Windows Explorer couldn't load on boot and then when I restarted that system I could see on the inital load that Raid Volumes (Volume 10) had failed in status and was no longer bootable.

So after inital load the PC is asking for a bootable CD.

I'm wondering whether this is a) HD failure, B) Motherboard failure, C) O/S corruption.

I have tried loading Ubuntu Live from USB so that I can at least attempt to recover files (especially emails); however, Ubuntu hangs on load when attempting to load essential drivers. I have removed all the sata cables and tried to run Ubuntu from USB, just in case I have corrupt version on USB (Very unlikley) and I'm getting I/O errors and again it will not boot.

So, I wonder if this is a Motherboard issue perhaps? Either or before I go buying any further hardware I really need to recover data from HD; therefore has anyone any suggestions? My only thoughts would be to put them into a PC running Ubuntu and see if Ubuntu can see them and see what I can grab?

    Any assistance much appreciated.
