'rainbow screen'? a little help.

hi there. i keep getting major problems with my monitor. when I am switching the computer on in most cases I get a huge burst of colour filling the entire screen.. merging into one another as the colours change.

after I manage to get past this problem (usually after a few restarts) i get a screen full of horizontal lines, again across the whole screen.
i realise the computer is working because in most cases after i hit enter i will see the manufacturers logo (as usual) and then the windows loading screen - and then from there the monitor runs smoothly with no problems.

it is an expensive monitor although i have had it for about 2 years already.. i really don't want to throw this away because it does still work despite problems starting.

Try testing your monitor on another computer if possible if you havent already done so!
Just out curiosity what monitor do you have?
 
thanks for the quick reply. i was thinking about testing it on a friends computer though i will have to wait a few days.

it is a Fujitsu siemens ctm5010 - probably really old now..
 
no worries, i think thats the only thing you can do at the moment!
anyone esle got ideas?
BTW- have you checked the manufacturers FAQ'S ?
