    Hello

I am thinking of upgrading my memory from 1500 to 2500mb
I run windows XP with an Athlon processor.
I use my PC mainly for photo applications such as Photoshop CS, Capture One etc.
I find it is reasonably quick for my needs but know that Photoshop eats up memory and if it was even quicker that would be good.
Would I notice a big difference in performance if I added an extra 1024mb of RAM. I can upgrade to 3000 mb as it has 3 slots.
Would it be worth the extra £70 to add the extra 1024mb or would the difference in performance be negligable.
    Thanks
    DLH

It depends on how much ram your system is using up at the moment. If you only use up 1gb of your 1.5gb then you'll probably end up with more spare if you upgrade to 2.5gb.

Press ctrl-alt-del and have a look under the performance tab to see how much RAM and page file you are using. I have never used photo editting software but id be surprised if it eats up all of 1.5gb of RAM. If it does use up all your RAM, or most of it, then the upgrade will be worth it and you will see a difference.

Thanks for the reply re the upgrade. I have tried running two or three photo applications together and the performance is peaking at about 1 gb.
There is still spare. I guess I have sufficient memory already in that case.
What do you think ? I suppose if I started processing several imagesa at once then it might have less to spare.
I have re checked the spec of the mobo on the Gigabyte website and it does run 3GB on three DIMM slots.
    Thanks for all the advice.
